NOT AT COACHELLA

4.14.2013

Who needs Coachella when you've got the Brooklyn Flea? Yesterday I grabbed my camera and headed over to Fort Greene where a large cappuccino and a DOUGH café au lait donut awaited me at Bittersweet. I was all set for a morning of perusing and style stalking. (I wore this jacket with these jeans and this t-shirt, in case you were wondering.) (What the hell do you mean it hadn't crossed your mind?!)

The flea makes me wish I had approximately a billion dollars to donate to like, ocean preservation, so that I wouldn't feel guilty about blowing a couple grand on ten tons of vintage and some really cute chairs. Some of my favorites are Nishi's shop, Interwoven and this guy Koichi, who doesn't have an online presence. (Except I Instagrammed his #supercute displays here and here.) If you're in the city and haven't made it to the flea yet, you should haul ass next weekend and make a morning of it. The farmer's market is right down the street, so you really don't have an excuse!

INSTAGRAM LIFE VOL. 4

11.20.2012

I know Instagram recently launched an online presence (check out my page here), so posting my favorite snaps on the blog seems a tad irrelevant. But...I still like it! And honestly, I haven't looked at anyone's Instagram page since they launched the site (except for Rihanna's?) so re-posting these here will continue until further notice. Above: I like vintage things! Including Vespas (not necessarily vintage), desks, tables and cars.

I really am doing the street style thing I mentioned last time! Doing it on a mobile device feels pretty organic, like it should have its own slogan/hashtag - Street style hits the streets! #style2go

Also, I love graffiti. Here are some favorite outdoor art installations as of late...

[STREET STYLE] BROOKLYN FLEA

10.11.2012

An unexpectedly polished look for the Brooklyn Flea, no? I love the subtle twists on trad style here - the barely buttoned chambray revealing a chest tattoo (ok, that's pretty Brooklyn); the popped collar of the sleek, zipper-laden sportcoat with the Prada tote and platforms...even the little accents like the pocket square and the multi-knuckle ring - so spot on! A very dashing ensemble, if I do say so myself.

BEST FACE FORWARD

9.10.2012

Today's post is maybe an outfit "sneak preview." I worked with the wonderful Izzy to get some outfit shots done and now I've changed my mind about how I want to do the post! Life is very transition-y right now (new job, apartment hunting - again) (more on that later!) and it's a bit tricky to style it up into a succession of pretty posts. Trying to schedule a photo shoot (or two, or three) on my days off...it's not in the cards right now! Don't worry - I'm not saying the outfit posts are by any means stopping, they're just slowing down a bit...hopefully not to a trickle, but a bit. As ever, your feedback (through FB, Twitter, whatever!) is encouraged and appreciated. And if you happen to be an NYC-based photographer with a really flexible schedule and some spare time on the weekends, be in touch!

P.S. Oh, but I did pick up this super sweet bull sweatshirt from the Brooklyn Flea (I haggled for it!) It's navy (my safety-blanket color) and the bull references my sort-of Spanish heritage while also confusing people into thinking I'm maybe a Taurus.
