[STREET STYLE] NYFW

9.13.2012

New York Fashion Week ends today, but don't feel left out, dear readers - yours truly took his day off to visit Lincoln Center and survey the throngs, a veritable Cirque du Prêt-à-Porter. It was kind of like a memo had gone out reading, "Let's take pictures of each other until we're famous!" But for some weird reason I wasn't invited to any of the shows? So I stood around in my vintage ladyjean bell bottoms (no one took my picture, FYI), snapping away at guys who inspired me. First, Karl of Guerreisms. I loved his look - he makes suiting so much fun! The details are just genius and also totes adorbs (green miniature flower pin #FTW)

Check out five more stylish dudes, after the jump!

BLEACHED BLACK

7.13.2012

My friend Ariel's hair is, for lack of better phrasing, totally wicked awesome. You'll probably see him again on the blog soon because I'm obsesssssed with his style...he's basically the Korean male Erin Wasson. Stay tuned.

[shorts story] fresh to death

This week I wanted to do something a bit unexpected, so I got to thinking about b-boy style and hip-hop influences. I found I had the perfect combination of items to do an outfit post for the final installment in my shorts storiez, in which I finally showcase that gigundo cross I blogged about here. I wouldn't wear this look everywhere, everyday, but I did wear it to Barnes & Noble. Sneakers/trainers what have you are rather de rigeur and pants seem to be getting looser and baggier (a lá Aaliyah?), so expect to see some new silhouettes on the blog (i.e., today, right now.) While Pharrell and André 3000 are two of my top fashion icons, the inspiration for this look is rooted in the outsized personalities of K-Pop. Korean rappers/singers G-Dragon and TOP embody a new kind of urban aesthetic that fuses American b-boy style with Japanese street style. Well, I don't know how "new" it is, per se, but I've been getting more familiar with it recently and am intrigued by their personas and, let's be real, wanna bang them (or should I say smang them?) like any good groupie. Some style examples, including GD and TOP, below...

I WANT TO HAVE ALL THE KOREAN BOYFRIENDS

8.09.2011

And their babies...

I discovered The Boychics while trolling around Lookbook. They're a Korean brand (or stylist duo or just e-shop, I'm not 100% sure - the guy here is a model) and I am OBsesSeD with them on every level. That fantastic name! Those man bags! I highly recommend checking out their blog, not just for style inspiration (of which there is plenty, although much of it I culled for this post), but also for their charmingly broken commentary. For example, "This shorts is so CUTE! LOOK the colorful buttons! XD," and, "Everybody loves STRIPE!!!!! Doesn't it? I DO LOVE!! XD." My favorite is the 'special notice for foreigner friends':

"We know that so many foreigner friends visit our web site.
But sorry, we don't have a site in English yet. So that many of you have inconveniences. we know. so really sorry about that.

So...If you guys have any question about our stuffs or something,send us an e-mail. (boychics@naver.com)or follow in Twitter. It's cool too. (@boychics)We're going to answer with all our heart. ♥"

Love. -_-;
