BLUE IS THE WARMEST...OH YOU KNOW

3.06.2014

I'm on a warm-weather-just-get-here-now kick, so sue me. Pajama dressing and oversize knits for summer for all! Andrew Westermann for T Magazine, styled by Jason Rider & shot by Matthew Kristall.

DO YOU POP YOUR COLLAR?

11.06.2013

Underneath your sweaters? I think it lends ruffian elegance—a touch of "louche sophistication". Like your boyfriend unceremoniously kicked you out of bed for snoring so you bid him adieu, indignantly grabbed your copy of Brideshead and set yourself up fireplace-adjacent in the nearest café. (Holy shit this café has a fireplace?) Another big sweater etiquette question: Do you ever tuck them in? Or is that just completely ridiculous? Ben Allen for T Magazine, shot by David Armstrong and styled by Jason Rider. (Rider also styled this shoot I loved.)

Such beautiful images captured by Paul Wetherell for an edit in T Magazine called, The Modern Man. Next week I'll be discussing the concept of masculinity and modern male beauty in depth...enjoy the weekend!

[TRENDSPOTTING] STATEMENT SWEATPANTS

12.02.2012

God bless T Magazine for having a story on "the statement sweatpant." And that hair! This louche athleticism is really on my mind these days and majorly affecting my steez - more on that tomorrow.  Photos Matthew Kristall.

EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL

2.19.2012

My friend and I were talking about SEO the other week and how much what you title your posts matters. I, personally, like my artsy-fartsy-er titles, such as this one. It makes sense because I love so many elements of these outfits...everything but the girl! Oh, vomit. That was terrible! Who let me type that? Well, hopefully you can see past that joke and enjoy this Tumblr-esque post celebrating my continuing lust for neutrals, muted jewel tones, layers, black and white and beanies, beanies, beanies. My favorite part of fashion week is quickly becoming the overwhelming swirl of behind-the-scenes and on-the-street action, though I do have a post or two about the collections coming your way...

P.S. Opening Ceremony featured the runway soundtracks for some of their favorite shows on their blog and I am totally in love with Calla's mix - check it out below! Its also available for download, natch.

IN LIVING COLOR

11.12.2011

Some lazy Sunday inspo...
Photographer Kevin Tachman just relaunched his website, Backstage At, chronicling the behind-the-scenes world of fashion shows. I eagerly clicked through all of the slideshows and pulled a few favored scenes. Personally, backstage photos are often some of my favorite fashion photos. I love seeing firsthand the art and artifice behind it all. The photos also shed a light on what most fascinates me about fashion, the transformation...often from lanky Russian skateboarder into one of an airbrushed dandy army. The backstage magic lends a little romance to what might otherwise seem a loss, as each model becomes the proverbial blank canvas. But it gives the rest of us a little inspiration too, no?
