[STREET STYLE] HANNE GABY

10.28.2013

Mac and I ran into Hanne Gaby on Saturday and I was all like, "Hey girl, how've you been since I last saw you in a Whole Foods and tried to secretly Instagram you in the produce aisle?" And she was all like, "What?" and then I took her picture. Ok, so that exchange didn't really happen, but I have seen Odiele in a Whole Foods—and Anja Rubik once, come to think of it. Anyway, she did mention she's wearing Comme Des Garçons—how sick is that coat?? Ugh, and that bag! Also, later that day, Daria rode by me on a bike, so I was kind of living the dream.

P.S. You can see Hanne working/werqin' it for Theyskens' Theory here.

[STREET STYLE] JACQUEMUS MESH SKIRT

9.06.2013

She's wearing the skirt I love so much! (Blogged about here.) Aisha is a French stylist visiting town for #NYFW. She was a little surprised I knew Jacquemus; I guess it's quite a small label? But with such brilliant campaigns every season, I feel like they're hard to miss. I love the way she's wearing this...now I have to buy it just so I can put my photo next to hers and do a "Her Way/My Way" post!

[STREET STYLE] SAINT LAURENT NYC

2.07.2013

I feel like I'm starting to notice more people wearing floppy wide-brim hats nowadays, but maybe it's not necessarily appropriate to put them in the context of Hedi Slimane's influence. What I love so much about this outfit is the way it puts a personal spin on the takeaway trend from Slimane's debut collection for YSL/SLP, eschewing the bohemian rockstar vibe as played up by Gwen Stefani in Vogue and embracing the Annie Hall end of the women's suiting spectrum (still with a rockstar twist), as more befits the East Coast. So Saint Laurent NYC, no? Audrey was also recently photographed by The Sartorialist, looking equally as amazing!

[STREET STYLE] WINNING STREAKS

1.10.2013

And for today, some lady street style...what really intrigues me about this woman is her total beauty look - the streaks of gray with the lucite frames, not to mention those lips! She looks like she could kick some ass, no? Or maybe like the Hollywood action-star version of Rachel Maddow! Like this post? Check out some other ladies here and here.

[STREET STYLE] IN THE CITY

6.02.2012

So, I'm officially in New York City! To sum up the experience so far: carry things, walk, eat, subway, walk, carry things, eat. There is actually a pretty funny story with which I could regale you, about me trying to ride a bike the size of a horse, but I feel like it needs to be acted out. Instead, prettiness! It was unseasonably chilly (i.e. 65-ish) and grey here yesterday - perfect for shooting. I passed this girl and was thrown into a fit of indecision about whether or not to approach her. I literally walked in circles for like, three minutes, but decided I would regret it forever if I didn't try. I just love the weight of those boots with the sheer button-up and that tailored bag! Not to mention her earrings, perfect hair and bracelets. The aesthetic here and the way she achieved it is just so wonderfully translatable to a male wardrobe.

What do we think...should I make this a regular feature here in the city, or are you supersaturated with street style? I figure it couldn't hurt to share what inspires me...and hopefully you feel the same way. And now, it is gorgeous here, so I'm headed out!

LE SHAN, C'EST CHIC

5.29.2012

I had the luck to meet Shannon a few weeks ago when she modeled for Get Low. The Irish-Lebanese beauty and I quickly bonded over how we're both bodacious boho-babes (read: she is tall and gorgeous and I am a level three elf lord with big dreams) and how much we love vintage. Her collection of rings is pretty damn impressive, and look - she wears hats too! Shannon's working at Low now, dispensing beaucoup styling advice and being infinitely bubblier and more helpful than I have ever been in a retail setting - be sure to pay her a visit!
