POSTCARDS FROM LA LA LAND

2.21.2014

Just a super quick update to let you all know that I'm enjoying L.A.—shopping, shooting, driving, eating, etc. I'm trying to shoot the trip mostly on IG, duh, but also on film. I'm using this old Pentax I found at my parent's house, so I may hold off on updates until I see what I've got there. Just thought I'd let my fans know, since I'm sure you're all totes emosh about the lack of love on my end. Soon, though! Bisous~

SEXY PARTY PHOTO DIARY

2.12.2014

Three things I learned at Details magazine's #MarchIssue party:
01 I need to learn to check my damn coat. I look like an angry dumpling in all of these pics.
02 Garret Neff is insanely gorgeous AND nice. I wish I could have my virginity back, just so I could give it to him.
03 Nick Wooster doesn't think of himself as a celebrity (I asked) (but he totally is one).

See more of my analog adventures (including a throwback to the first time I met/accosted Neff) here and here. Special thanks to Through Whose Crew for providing the disposable cameras for this!

MY #NYFW PHOTO DIARY

9.12.2013

Blah blah blah, faShIon! I have so many thoughts and stuff to talk about, but I'm exhausted—not because I was hopping from one show to the next in heels, but because work has been really demanding lately and now I just want to nap all the time. That being said, I did manage to fit in some #NYFW action this past week—it was my first time ever actually getting invited to anything, y'all! The two runway shows I had time to see (pics below) were The Art Institute of NYC (top) and Concept Korea (bottom).

I got the chance to meet Tommy from MyBelonging this week as well. We share a love for Zara leggings and Azn fashion, so after the Concept Korea show we took pics of each other's outfits and practiced looking bored:

I know! I'm wearing a leather apron skirt! I am telling you nothing about it, though...you'll have to wait for the full outfit post/details next week. Aside from actual runway shows, I got to take in a few presentations (pics below, again, duh). Two favorites were Frank & Oak (top two) and William Okpo (bottom two). Also of note: Frank & Oak just released a really sweet 'zine (you saw it on Insta here) with top-notch photography and an interview with Waris Ahluwahlia. Looking forward to seeing more from them...

...and I loved the William Okpo presentation, too—great prints, great hair. Then I took some other street style snaps of people (you can see another angle on this lady's outfit on The Sartorialist).

I got up to some other life choices, all visible on IG, in case you're looking for more! And now I'm going to go get a large coffee...Like this post? Check out my other fashion week-related posts here and here.

INSTAGRAM LIFE VOL. 5

3.11.2013

The last time I did one of these it was 2012, which is complete insanity. I'm starting off the post with the above images because they sort of convey a sense of hibernation and hibernating is what I've been doing all winter. Also I've been taking care of plants and cats, sooo...it all makes sense. Below you can check out some of my outfits that I haven't shot for the blerg. For some reason my selfies do really well on Instagram...mb u guyz r kinda gay for me or something, IDK. Wearing, clockwise from top left: Natural Born Elegance bow tie, Saturdays Surf NYC sweater with leather shorts and tights, Banana Republic tie with J.Crew cardi and Uniqlo belt, and trying on a neon orange quilted workwear jacket with Doc Martens, #trendybish.

These are some things I ate and liked; croque monsieur from Paradis on the left, and strawberries and blueberries with vanilla ice cream on the right!

These are two supercool Japanese people I shot in some supercute outfits that make great use of pattern - also they wear their bags in the same way!

And here's some street style next to some streets, boom.

This is some art I saw and liked, mostly at the Met, but then the photo in the upper right-hand corner is graffiti - but it's so beautiful, no? Art is everywhere, the wind whispers...

You can find all of these (and more!)[and follow me!] over on my Instagram profile, @thisfruitsnaps.

INSTAGRAM LIFE VOL. 1

8.09.2012

Summer is winding down, can you believe it? This is the month all of Europe hits the snooze alarm and people start to actually go back to school, holy crap. To savor the flavor while it lasts, here's a brief look into some of what I've done this summer...

clockwise, from top left: I made new business cards! And I'm passing them out like crazy. Like how the font on the card is the font of the blog header? #designminded // I went to Riis beach for a shoot recently, more on that later! These bushes were pretty and the ocean was spectacular! // Great storefront signage on Rivington

Picasso-viewers at MoMa...it feels like I took this forever ago! I love MoMa, holla Target Fridays // These are some African-print shorts I picked up from a street vendor whose nephew ships them over here from Nigeria. Or Senegal. Or, you know, like...somewhere in continental Africa // Boats on the water in Central Park // Kelly looking Virgin Suicides-y in the Park

Cherry tomatoes I cut up to make the salad featured here // A new read for the season...I'm telling you, plants are my new obsession! // Spinach and a Gorgonzola-Blue Cheese hybrid I picked up at Eastern District to make this dish, so good.
