[TRENDSPOTTING] STACKABLE RINGS

6.07.2013

I, like all other people with eyes and Style.com bookmarked, have been obsessed with the stacked rings at Balenciaga S/S'13 for months now. But I hadn't really even tried to, "Get the look!" because of my giant man hands and the assumption that anything remotely similar (and equally delicate) would be made for slender lady knuckles.

In an attempt to show some sort of solidarity with departed designer Nicolas Ghesquière and his under-appreciated commercial savvy, I picked up a pair of thick vintage brass rings and accepted wearing one on my pointer finger and one on my pinky as the closest I would get to recreating the splendor of The Stacked Effect. Then I left those in a public bathroom (hand washing, be damned!) and resigned myself to misery. But then I stopped by the Flea again (again) last weekend and found a vendor selling these sweet pieces of ass:

Aren't they so perf you could throw up all over yourself? I almost didn't buy them to teach myself a lesson about being responsible and blah blah blah, but then I did buy them to feel cool and pretty. And I do! #winning

FRUIT FANCIES No. 5

4.01.2013

I know, I know - it's not even really warm yet here in the city and it most certainly isn't summer, but I can't help dreaming. Plus, this mix is so appealing: a black linen jumpsuit with leather detailing + the most perfectest sexy/angry bootie + an even more perfecter badass bucket bag. Swoon...

LA POCHETTE

9.11.2012

Yeah...I'd tap that. Balenciaga calls this a "large clip," but I call this style "la pochette," which Google tells me is French for "hand clutch." My sex fantasy where Drake calls me up and tells me that I'm right, all of his songs are about me and hey, do I want to hit up Santorini on his (solar-powered) yacht? has been replaced by one where I walk into Barneys and can afford this baby and then hop around the city holding it up over my face to hide from the paparazzi who obviously want to snap me because Drake is regardless still into me and the news is all over Page Six. So, yeah...I really like this bag.

THE SPRING 2013 REVIEW

7.02.2012

I posted Marc Jacob's Spring/Summer '13 collection lookbook last week, but there are of course more wonderful designer duds to share and this season I've thunk up a new (and hopefully fun and interesting) way to show y'all some of my favorite looks. I always love a captivating magazine cover, so I took a smattering of ensembles from a few different collections and put them on top of vintage Paris Review covers I found via Pinterest...then I employed the handy-dandy poster edges filter (I'll get fancier someday) et voilá! I present to you my spring 2013 review...

DEAR INTERNET No. 16

1.20.2012

What the internet hath bequeathed unto me this week...
I love this image from Balenciaga’s pre-fall lineup. It’s like Grease meets Blade Runner meets Xanadu. What could be better?

Some street style shots I love...because the couple with matching-era vintage purses is in it for the long haul (via Calivintage via Drop Tokyo); and I'm digging the pop of pink in this otherwise gorgeously tone-on-tone shot from photographer Kuba Dabrowski, once again shooting for Women's Wear Daily.
This gorgeous Mulberry bag was shot on someone's lucky shoulder this season at Pitti...

I hadn't stopped by The Selby in forever, but thorough perusing this week yielded this intriguingly rustic, spartan residence in the mountains of Kamakura, Japan.

And last, but not least, the best thing on the internet is obviously my Etsy shop. Have you virtually swung by it, yet? Please do! It's travel photography for the worldly home (like the above shot from Paris.)

P.S. A friendly reminder that another awesome thing on the internet is The Low Lookbook. Missed it? Check it out now!
