Literally. I'm dying. Also of note: Ok, I don't know if you ladies are as finnicky as I am about your purses, but it turns out that the WANT clutch I blogged about here is actually made in CHINA. What!? What? Hashtag double take, hashtag letdown. I thought all of WANT's bags were de facto produced in Montreal or wherever they're based, but apparently bishes ain't heard Bey's Upgrade U in a hot minute. This beauty is made in Portugal, like all good bags, and is perfectly sized for my phone, my wallet, my coin purse, my lip balm and my keys.
Because time is running out to show off the #otterluvr physique you climbed so many stairs while clenching your asscheeks to get. Wait, who did what now? I wore shorts with a sweater, two times over, and it was so fan-f*cking-tastic I took pictures to prove it...that's what happened. In outfit 1, above, I'm the epitome of "barista chic." If you're one of the 7.5 people who follow me on Twitter you'll maybe be familiar with my ongoing (secret) love affair with Mud Truck Guy. He's so cute I could throw up all over myself. No but like, seriously.
Anyway, he looks like a Scott or maybe a Kevin and he wears shit like this and it's adorable. The hole-y cardigan is a definite essential, but Mud Truck Guy probably wouldn't know Phillip Lim if I smacked him in the back of the head with a 31 Hour manpurse and dragged him back to my cave of sex. Which I don't have, so...no harm no foul.
Outfit 2 is great for students. It says, "Hey guys! I'm #booksmart! Look at all these books I'm posing with! See? Literacy!" I actually wore this exact outfit two whole years ago, back when I very first started this blog. Isn't that crazy? God, I was such a basic bitch back then...which look do you prefer?
The second installment of our Shorts Story series celebrates the style flavors of Europe. Yes, I just typed that sentence! Long story short, my pants are very tiny and I'm wearing driving moccasins. The shorts used to be a pair of pants, for the record, that I unceremoniously took scissors to, promptly destroyed and had to take to my (older, Korean) tailor to see if she could get the hems straight. "They are short enough," she says. I guess so, but everyone knows that Europeans invented both the Speedo and the nude beach and really, why am I even clothed right now? But srsly u guyz, I think there's something to be said for a crisp button-down, sleeves rolled, paired with tailored khaki shorts. You can see my stylespirations below. That guy on the left knows how to button a shirt - you don't. On the right, blogger Christoph Schaller is German and therefore fully committed to the Euro Trad sensibility. What do we think? Oh, look! Asian guys! Where'd they come from? The internet. I love love love these desk "tablescapes" by Betsy Burnham (top) and Lizzie Bailey (bottom) for Lonny. I've lately had orange, lacquer, desk chair pillows, trays and decorating with candles on my mind, and if my weekend shooting goes well you'll see the results of all that brain juggling next week!

Milan Vukmirovic is obviously my style soulmate - mondo chest action, check; aviators, check; a thing for pared down sophistication, check (sort of - I have a debatable track record in this department, but big dreams.) Also, I think I'm going to have to make suede happen soon, and buttoning just the top button of my coat is definitely something I did this one time that is now a "thing".
Lana del Rey is so hot right now, but I can't just blog about any old LDR song since that would be so two months ago. Instead, I bring you an awesome remix of her single, Blue Jeans. In my dream life where I'm a DJ/Balenciaga brand ambassador/sexy gardening activist I'm totally killing it on the dancefloor with this number.
This weekender is a gorgeous new addition to my tiny (but growing!) collection of vintage bags. That shape! The hardware! Those wonderfully worn-in handles! Low co-owner Nora picked this up from the home of a gay couple in Waynesboro, Virginia. Apparently the two of them often indulged in matching items, but there was only one of these babies. It belonged to the half of the couple that was a flight attendant and still had its airport tags inside when I bought it. It's in remarkable condition, though a little scuffed, and is the absolute perfect size for the average man. I, on the other hand, will barely be able to fit montoilette and a limited selection of jewelry. Such is life!

Remember a few months ago when I found that vintage dressing gown at Low and blogged all about how I’d be wearing it at my book
party? And then didn’t because I thought I looked like Count Chocula? Well, I
finally found a way to incorporate it into an ensemble without bringing to mind
vampires that sell cereal! Layered underneath my tweedy sportcoat it looks like
just a scarf, no? Which I suppose detracts a bit from the unbridled Hefner-esque
awesomeness that is a vintage dressing gown you’ve had cut into a lightweight
belted sweater-jacket, but such is life. It still adds enough drama (look at
that collar!) to sustain the additional intensity of my jangly jungle-pirate
necklace.
Then, of course, we have some feisty below the
wrist action going on. Not only am I wearing my new House of Harlow art-deco
tire print knuckle-duster AND my butter London blagger nail polish, I’ve bedecked my thumbnail with an iPod bling cross.
Which is sort of gross, considering I put that bling on my iPod over a year
ago, but each bead had just enough sticky residue left over that I could
stabilize it on my nail and lay some topcoat down for the win. It wasn’t the
world’s most artful process, nor its prettiest, but it worked! And the effect
is just so budget Lacroix it works.
My beloved photographer Fareine is unable to contribute to *fruitpunch for the next couple of weeks thanks to school, of all things, so let's send her endless kisses and hope she does exceedingly well so she can get back to the things in life that really matter.
